CARES Housing operates a permanent supportive housing program for individuals and families who are homeless and who are living with HIV/AIDS. Apartments for participants are located in the City of Albany. In addition to housing, participants receive on-going case management designed to assist them in accessing community-based support services in order to maintain independent living.
All applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Have a documented HIV diagnosis
- Be homeless or at risk of imminent homelessness
- Have documentation of a household income less than 80% of the median income for a similar sized household in Albany County
- Require the size unit that is being requested.
Applications will be accepted from case managers or other service providers affiliated with the applicant. Applications are reviewed to determine if the prospective tenant qualifies for program participation. Referrals are kept on file until openings become available. Applicants demonstrating immediate need will be assigned priority.
